Bike to Work Month

May is bike to work month so I broke down and bought a road bike at the start of the month. I also joined a team in the Commuter challenge where teams all across Seattle compete for the most bike-commuting miles during the Month of May. Our team is doing so-so. None of our team members have a very long commutes so we don't get that many miles. My ride is about 20 miles round-trip and I get in 2-3 rides a week. It definitely feels good to ride to work and also to save some money on gas!

Friends & Family in Seattle

I thought it was time to finally catch everyone up on what's been happening with us and the baby. As you can imagine our life pretty much revolves around Mari right now. Mari's doing very well. She's healthy and eating like a champ. At her last doctor's appointment on 4/18 she weighed in at 11lbs. It's been really fun watching her develop. She's now smiling frequently and is on the verge of giggling. She's also recently discovered her hand (primarily the right one) and spends quite a bit of time watching and admiring it.

Over the past few weeks we've been fortunate enough to have visits from both sets of parents, Will, and then Mike & Jessica made the trek from Reno. We had a great time with Mike and Jess seeing the sites of Seattle, bbq'ing, and playing backyard golf. Jessica's about 7 months pregnant so it was great for her and Becky to get together and swap stories about the trials and tribulations of pregnancy.

Mari has her first airline flight this Friday. We're heading down to Orange County for my cousin Kirsten's wedding. We're excited for the rest of the family to meet her.

Mari Photos

Welcome Mari Lynn Wilson

Mari Lynn Wilson was born on Thursday 2/15 @ 9pm. She weighed 6lbs. 9oz. and was 18 inches. We were scheduled to be induced on Thursday but Becky ended up going into labor at 3:30 am that morning. The labor lasted 19 hours but Becky took the epidural a couple hours into it so it was a pretty relaxing day for the most part.

I think Becky and I are adjusting pretty well to our new life at home. Becky's making good progress on her recovery and Mari seems to be doing well. Like everyone says at this stage, she just eats, sleeps, and poops. The grandparents are still with us so we're feeling pretty comfortable for now. The real test will come later this week when they abandon (I mean leave) us. We're a little scared but I think we'll be OK.

Final Days

We're now 8 days past due. Since nothing seems to be happening naturally, we're going to get a little human intervention from the doctors on Thursday. We have to call in at 6am on Thursday and find out what time to come in to get induced.

Still Waiting

It's been a while since our last post but there hasn't been a whole lot to report. We're now 2 days away from our official due date and still no baby. My parents just arrived in town on Tuesday. It's been nice for Becky and I to spend some time alone with them before the arrival of the baby. Becky's still be doing very well. For the most part she's just uncomfortable, as everyone said would be the case at the end of the pregnancy. We've finally had a long (1 week) stretch of sunny weather. It's been really good, especially with our new found appreciation for the sun. It has rained a lot but Becky and I don't mind since it means more snow in the mountains!

Check back soon. The next post could be our baby announcement!

37 Weeks

Well, the end is closing in quick. The doctor has said that the baby is in the proper position and could come anytime between now and our due date of Feb 4th. Here's the latest picture of Becky.

More snow...

We've continued to get more snow over the last week. Today we woke up to 4 more inches. Here's a funny picture from the local newspaper.
